Hold ("Hold," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Hold accountability application and related services accessible at usehold.app (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use our Service.

By creating an account or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

  • Full name and email address
  • Mobile phone number
  • Personal goals, commitments, and accountability standards you enter into the app
  • Journal entries, check-in responses, and notes submitted through the Service
  • Payment information (processed and stored by our third-party payment processors — we do not store full card numbers)
  • Communications you have with the Hold AI system

Information collected automatically:

  • Device type, operating system, and app version
  • IP address and general location data
  • App usage patterns, feature interactions, and session duration
  • Push notification interaction data
  • Crash reports and performance data

Information from third parties:

  • Payment and subscription status from RevenueCat and Stripe
  • Device token information from Apple and Google for push notification delivery

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
  • Deliver personalized AI accountability messages, check-in reminders, and SMS notifications you have opted into
  • Process your subscription payments and manage your account
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve the Service and AI response quality
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents
  • Communicate with you about your account, subscription, and Service updates
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Enforce our Terms of Service

We do not use your personal journal entries, goals, or accountability data for advertising purposes.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. Ever.

4. SMS Messaging

By providing your mobile phone number and opting in during registration, you consent to receive SMS text messages from Hold including:

  • Daily check-in reminders and prompts
  • Accountability and escalation messages
  • Streak notifications and progress updates
  • Recovery and re-engagement messages

Message frequency varies based on your activity level and app settings, typically between 1 and 5 messages per day.

Message and data rates may apply based on your carrier plan.

To opt out of SMS messages at any time, reply STOP to any message from Hold. You may also disable SMS notifications in your app Settings. Opting out of SMS does not cancel your subscription.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

Service Providers:

We share information with trusted third-party vendors who help us operate the Service, including:

  • Anthropic (AI response generation)
  • Twilio (SMS delivery)
  • RevenueCat and Stripe (payment processing)
  • Supabase (data storage and authentication)
  • Apple and Google (push notification delivery)

All service providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify.

Legal Requirements:

We may disclose your information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Hold, our users, or the public.

Business Transfers:

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email and prominent notice on the Service before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

With Your Consent:

We may share your information for any other purpose with your explicit prior consent.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you cancel your subscription, we retain your data for 90 days to allow for reactivation, after which it is deleted from our active systems.

You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at jackson@arcstone.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days, subject to any legal retention obligations.

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encrypted data transmission (TLS), encrypted data storage, access controls, and regular security reviews.

No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a minor without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a new effective date and, where appropriate, by sending you an email notification. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
